2.0 Local Food- Mui Ne
Mui Ne doesn’t really has special local food, but their specialty is the fish sauce for sure. It’s made of fish, lime juice, sugar, chopped garlic and chili. This fish sauce will give the dishes you tried before a different taste! There are a lot of good restaurants, but be aware that the prices are a little higher than normally because seafood is more expensive.
- Ca Mai (Fish salad)
This salad is made of raw fishes as herring, cleaning fish, spring fish and carving. The fish ‘Ca Mai’ is the main fish in this dish. The fresh fish is cut into flat pieces and put on a plate. Topped with hot pepper and roasted peanuts and served with noodles, vegetable, herbs, rice paper and of course: the famous fish sauce.

- Banh Hoi (Hoi cake)
The specialty of this dish is the dipping sauce. It’s made from fish sauce with lime juice, sugar, chili and chopped garlic. The cake itself is made of rice flour and vermicelli, which are woven into bundles. Mostly, they will be served with roasted pork and chopped onions on top.

- Banh Xeo (rice pancake)
Banh Xeo is used as appetizer or snack. Just like the one in Hue is this dish made of rice flour. The pancake consists coconut milk and turmeric. They fill the pancake with vermicelli noodles, pork, chicken, shrimp or beef with sliced onions, mushrooms and bean sprouts.

- Lau Tha (Seafood pot)
For people, who are in love with hot pot should try this. Lau Tha is significant for Mui Ne. Take your fresh fish and take the meat out. Use the lemon to take the strong fish smell away. After that, you blend the fish with chopped garlic, chilli, and ginger water. Among this dish, you get boiled pork, sliced fried duck eggs, broth and raw vegetables. You eat this dish with roasted rice and anchovy fish sauce.

- Dong - Lizards
This lizard is officially called ‘’Dong’’ and it lives in the sandy desert areas. There are various options to eat it: fried, stir-fried, roasted or used as main ingredient for hot pot. The meat tastes like chicken. Where? 49 Pham Van Dong Street, Phan Thiet City.
- Banh Re (Phan Thiet sweet potato cake)
This snack is made of sweet potato. The potato is shaved into fibers and gets fried until it is well-done. After it’s fried, they get dipped into caramel for a while. Put it on a tray to dry out, wait and enjoy!
